Back on Track, Happy Birthday Lily! Hello Annie Maude

Well after six long weeks--I am finally back on track. Seven weeks ago I got really sick and shortly after I had to have surgery. The recovery process was tough because I had a "no lifting" restriction and I could not stand on my feet for very long. Anyway, now I am feeling great due to a new diet and very caring friends. During my recovery, the Hairspray Moms(the moms group I belong to)set up a meal delivery for my little family and provided us with two meals a week for four weeks. I don't know what we would have done without them. Thanks Goodness for my HSM's!, my own beautiful mother and father in law, wonderful husband J and a new diet, I have more energy than ever and I am feeling GREAT.

Now, I am taking the time to catch up on things like making a few little dresses for Annie, ordering some new books from Japan---they are so amazing, working on a dress for Annie's school auction and creating a new design--the Annie Maude Apron. This is my second pattern and I am selling it at Too Cute in Burlingame. Similar to the gloves, 5 %of the profits will be going to Sameritian House in SMC. This project has been wonderful and soul filling too. I am enjoying constructing the little aprons; while knowing that some of the project's profits will benifit a family shelter.

Anyway, these are a few photos of some new patterns I have tried out, a birthday dress for Miss Lily who just turned one--HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILY! and the Annie Maude Apron. First, there is Little Lily in her birthday dress that I made for her. Her mom, Tracy and I went shopping for all of the fabric a few weeks ago. It is really sweet! I used my old stand by simplicity pattern and Tracy picked sugar pink lining fabric for the dress and pink and white polka dot fabric for the trim. It meant so much to me to make this little dress for her--which I hope to be the first of many birthday dresses for Lily. The black dress is an ETSY.com pattern kit from ManiMina's Shop in Brooklyn. I have followed her work for quite a while now and I was really excited when she created her wonderland dress kit. Everything comes pre-cut all you need is a sewing machine and bam! you have this great little dress! Next, the green linen dress is from one of my japanese pattern books. I used an old skirt and turned it into this little linen dress for Miss Annie. The last picture is of Annie in her new apron. She has worn aprons since she could walk. She has a few vintage aprons from the 50's, one that my mom made for her and the others I have made for her. And... now she has this new little apron to wear in the kitchen with me, at school or simply just around the house...like mommy! The Annie Maude Apron design was officially born on March 24th 2009 with the help and collaboration of Nicole Vasbinder at StitchCraft in Petaluma.
